File Scanning

Problem

Symptoms and solution

File transfers are refused in all safes

Symptoms: In rendered HTTP sessions, every upload and download is refused with the message Transfer blocked: the scanning service is unavailable. The file was not transferred., also in safes where file scanning is turned off.

Cause: The internal Fudo service that records file transfers is unavailable. A transfer that cannot be recorded is refused, whether scanning is turned on or not.

Solution: Fudo restarts the service automatically. Ask the user to close the session and start a new one. If the message also appears in new sessions, contact technical support.

Files are blocked in safes with file scanning enabled

Symptoms: Transfers are blocked and the Files tab of the session shows File could not be scanned with the Engine unreachable reason.

Cause: Fudo cannot connect to any of the configured providers.

Solution: In Settings > System > General > File scanning, check the status of the providers and use Test connection. Make sure that the firewall allows traffic from Fudo to the ICAP port of the provider (1344 by default). For details, refer to the File Scanning in Rendered HTTP Sessions topic.

The provider connection test fails

Symptoms: Test connection shows Provider reached, but it does not advertise RESPMOD and cannot scan transfers.

Cause: The ICAP service at the given Service path does not support the RESPMOD method used for scanning.

Solution: Check the Service path in the provider settings with the antivirus vendor’s documentation, for example avscan, respmod or virus_scan.
