Accessing Secret Editing

Secrets can be edited to update their information, change passwords, modify URLs, or update descriptions. There are multiple ways to access and edit secrets in the Password Vault.


Method 1: From List View

  1. Select Password Vault > Organization Vault.

  2. Click List to switch to list view.

  3. Click on the secret name to open the edit panel.


Method 2: From Collections View

  1. Navigate to the collection containing the secret.

  2. Expand the collection to view its secrets.

  3. Click on the secret name to edit.

Edit Secret Panel

The secret edit panel provides comprehensive editing capabilities with the following tabs:

DETAILS TAB

The Details tab is the main editing interface for secret information where you can modify all core attributes of the secret.

Available fields (example for Login type):

  • Name: The display name for the secret (must be unique within the collection)

  • Domain: The domain or hostname associated with the credentials

  • Login: The username or login identifier

  • Password: The secret password (masked by default with a “Change” button to update)

  • URL: One or more URLs where these credentials can be used

    • Click + Add another URL to add multiple URLs

    • Click the trash icon to remove a URL

    • Each URL must include the protocol (https://, ssh://, etc.)

  • Description: Optional notes or additional information about the secret


Access Settings:

  • Exclusive checkout: When enabled, only one user can access the secret at a time. Other users must wait for the secret to be checked back in.

CHANGERS TAB

The Changers tab allows you to configure automated password management through Password Changers and Verifiers.

Password Changers:

Password changers automate the process of rotating passwords on target systems. You can select a password changer from the dropdown to automate password rotation.


Password Verifier:

Password verifiers ensure that the stored credentials match what’s configured on the target system. You can select a verifier to periodically validate password accuracy.

PERMISSIONS TAB

The Permissions tab allows you to preview user or group access to the secret. Secrets inherit permissions from their parent collection.

ACTIVITY LOGS TAB

The Activity Logs tab provides a comprehensive audit trail of all actions performed on the secret. You can filter log entries and customize which columns are displayed.

ACCOUNTS TAB

The Accounts tab displays all accounts associated with this secret.
