Assigning Password Vault Secrets to Accounts

Note

Before assigning secrets to accounts, ensure that you have appropriate permissions to edit accounts and access to the Password Vault.

Password Vault secrets can be assigned to Fudo Enterprise accounts to provide centralized credential management. This integration allows administrators to use secrets stored in the Password Vault for authenticating connections to target servers.

Note

Two types of secrets can be assigned to accounts: Login and SSH Key secrets.

  1. Navigate to Session Management > Accounts.

  2. Click on the account name you want to edit.

  3. In the account settings, locate the Credentials section.

  4. Under Replace secret with:, select Password Vault.

  2. Optionally, enable checkboxes:

    • Use domain from secret - Uses the domain stored in the secret

    • Use login from secret - Uses the login name stored in the secret

  3. Click Save or Save and Close to apply the changes.

Note

The Add Secret button in the secret selection dropdown allows you to create a new secret directly from the account configuration interface if the required secret doesn’t exist yet.

Note

  • Permissions: Users must have appropriate permissions to both the account and the Password Vault secret to establish connections.

  • Audit trail: All secret access through accounts is logged in both the account activity logs and the Secret Access monitoring.

  • Exclusive checkout: If a secret has exclusive checkout enabled, only one user can access it at a time through the account.
