Event Logging and Audit Trail

Password Vault provides comprehensive logging and traceability for access to collections and secrets.

Logged events include:

  • Authentication and authorization attempts

  • Secret access (view, copy, download)

  • Secret checkout and automatic checkin

  • Secret generation events

  • Password/key rotation operations

  • Policy changes

  • Administrative actions

Note

To preview all logs, go to the Event Logs tab. To preview logs for a specific secret, edit the secret and open the Activity logs subtab.

Checkout / Checkin Tracking

When a secret is checked out:

  • The secret can be locked for exclusive use

  • The operation is recorded with user identity, timestamp, and scope

  • Automatic checkin may occur after inactivity timeout

All checkout and checkin events are stored in the audit trail.

Compliance Support

The audit functionality enables:

  • Complete operational history

  • Immutable change tracking

  • External log forwarding (e.g., SIEM integration)

The audit trail ensures accountability of all privileged credential operations within the system.
