Routing Configuration

In default configuration, Fudo Enterprise directs all incoming traffic to defined gate. Static routing enables defining routes for packets coming from selected networks.

Note

When defining default route, enter default in the Network field.

Adding a route

To add a route, proceed as follows. There are 7 routing tables available for configuration, with multiple routes.

  1. Select Settings > Network configuration.

  2. Select Routing tab.

  3. Click Add route + to define a new route.

  4. Enter network address along with the network mask (e.g. 10.0.1.1/32) and gateway address.

  5. Click Save.

Scope of automatic interface routes

When an IP address is assigned to a network interface, Fudo Enterprise automatically adds a route to the subnet that address belongs to. The Add automatic interface routes in: option determines which routing tables those automatic routes are added to.

  • All routing tables - automatic interface routes are added to every routing table. This is the default setting. Select this option when a service that operates within a single routing table has to reach hosts routed through a different one. The built-in DNS resolver works this way: it uses one routing table - the one that the address configured for it belongs to, or the first table when no address is configured.

  • The interface’s own table only - automatic interface routes are added only to the routing table assigned to the given network interface. Select this option to keep the routing tables strictly separated, for example when routes present in the remaining tables cause Fudo Enterprise to send packets out through one interface using the source address of another interface, and the replies are dropped.

Warning

The setting is applied while network interface addresses are being assigned during system startup, therefore it takes effect only after Fudo Enterprise is restarted - not immediately after saving.

Note

All routing tables is the setting applied both to newly installed systems and to systems upgraded from an earlier version, hence the behavior of an existing deployment does not change after the upgrade.

To change the scope of automatic interface routes, proceed as follows.

  1. Select Settings > Network configuration.

  2. Select Routing tab.

  3. Next to Add automatic interface routes in:, select either All routing tables or The interface’s own table only.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Reboot Fudo Enterprise to apply changes (use the link in the message or select the Reboot option from the user menu).
